Our organisation has over 50 years combined experience of raising pupil attendance, reducing persistent absence and improving pupil attainment. We use proven strategies which are underpinned by safeguarding and statutory guidelines to deliver meaningful sustained results.

Who We Are

We work with schools to help children access education to achieve their full potential.

We are a team of experienced practitioners with professional backgrounds in education, welfare and student support. Our welfare officers have all worked on the front line of operational delivery and have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the needs of schools and academies. We have a comprehensive knowledge of the law regarding school attendance and have the experience to address low level attendance and persistent absenteeism.

What We Do

We are independent education welfare services and training specialists.

Delivered by experts with a proven track record, our services are individually tailored to the needs of the school, their students and families. With early intervention, we deliver targeted and pro-active support to improve and sustain school attendance and address welfare issues.

We have an agile approach to delivering our support, it is important to us that we integrate in the whole school community and within student’s family life. We represent the school internally and externally from meeting with families and staff on site, at home and in multi-agency meetings.

Ensuring schools comply with safeguarding and statutory guidelines is extremely important to us which is why all of our work adheres to The Education Act 1996, The Children Act 1989 and The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006, including 2016 (Amendments).

We work together with schools to determine what number of half or full days support they need per week so we can make a valuable impact.

  • Education Welfare

    Education Welfare

    Our officers will work with the school, student and family to ensure the best outcomes and improved attendance and attainment for each student. We identify and work to remove barriers which impact student attendance which includes initiating casework and strategies to improve student engagement. Our casework can be referred to the Local Authority for statutory intervention when required. We explain to families the responsibility they have towards their children and their duty to ensure a regular school attendance and will undertake home visits to build links and engage with hard to reach families.

    If a child is not in school, where are they?

    Our experience tells us that deterioration in school attendance, punctuality and behaviour can be an early warning sign that there may be broader difficulties for that child and their family. We provide guidance and practical support regarding student welfare and safeguarding. We work with key staff within the school environment and external agencies as well as families to identify areas that need support.

    Our team have a depth of specialist experience and knowledge. It is extremely important to us that we share this with the schools and academies we work with. By sharing our strategies and best practice methods we are able to up skill staff’s attributes, knowledge and skills regarding education welfare.

    Attendance Evaluation and Improvement

    Our data driven approach enables us to identify poor attendance and intervene to prevent student failure. We monitor patterns of student absence allowing prompt response and implementation of action plans to address the needs of vulnerable students and groups to close attendance gaps. Our officers analyse existing data to gather insights and develop tailored strategies to improving whole school attendance.

  • Ofsted Support

    Ofsted Support

    We are experienced in preparing and providing specialist guidance for schools during Ofsted inspections and can be available to attend school on the inspection day. We can provide the school with a detailed report for inspection that includes case studies, targeted intervention and records of the actions that have been implemented to improve whole school attendance.

  • Legislative and Policy Guidance

    Legislative and Policy Guidance

    We have specialist knowledge of all current legislation surrounding education welfare and provide schools with strategic advice on policy, best practice and procedures. Our officers work with schools to implement the Local Authority (Code of Conduct) Penalty Notice process for Unauthorised Absence and Leave of Absence.
